We chose to use a single large heat sink for better cooling, lower profile, and easier mounting to the enclosure instead of separate smaller heat sinks (shown in picture).
The size of 40A SSR heat sinks will vary greatly as some manufacturers will undersize their heat sinks in order to reduce cost and / or assume that a fan will be used to increase airflow.
